Inspection and valuation of Port Cranes
If you need a specialized service for a fair evaluation and inspection of used port cranes, we are here for you. Our team is trained to inspect harbor cranes, large material handlers, bulk loaders, gantry cranes or container cranes.
We do not trade in machinery. We do not broker equipment. We only carry out inspections and assessments. If you are involved in cargo handling, crane trading, bulk handling or material storage and need an independent party to confirm the condition of a crane, you have come to the right place.
How does a port crane valuation work?
One of our technicians will come to your port or site for an inspection. This usually takes 3-4 hours for a standard harbor crane. The mechanical structure is examined, winches, hydraulic pumps and motors are checked. A load test is used to check both the load torque limiter and the tilting clearance in the slewing ring. If the boom is not accessible, a working platform is required to inspect the lattice boom and the rope sheaves.

What values are included in a port crane assessment?
You as the customer must define the order position. Should the crane be dismantled and transported after purchase or sale? Is it a matter of determining a fair selling price to the subcontractor or contractual partner taking over? Perhaps the price for a replacement crane needs to be determined? We calculate the right price based on your requirements.
What contains a harbor crane inspection checklist?
In our experience, crane manufacturers are very reluctant to provide third parties with a complete checklist for a crane. On the other hand, these checklists are often very extensive and contain a lot of information that is not absolutely necessary when buying a harbor crane. We have therefore developed our own strategy for the testing and inspection of used cranes. In a manageable time, the technician can determine whether the crane has significant defects or is ready for use and safe to operate. Important: Our inspection of used cranes does not replace the annual safety inspection! (OSHA, LOLER). But we do check booms, winches, ropes, hook blocks, chassis, frames, engines, gearboxes, brakes, air conditioning, lighting, lattice booms, winch brakes, load moment limiting devices, overload protection devices, outriggers, hydraulic cylinders and valves, chassis cylinders, travel motors, crawlers and rotary joints.

Crane brands we have inspected
Over the years a crane inspection service gets a nice collection of pictures, inspection reports and the inspectors gather a lot of experience. As far as we remember we have inspected crawler cranes of Liebherr, Manitowoc, Himenosa, Gottwald,, Demag, Kobelco and even old Ruston Bucyrus cranes.
